Dental
The Wakulla County Health
Department Dental Program's goal is to provide basic dental services to children with emphasis on prevention.
Our Services are available by
appointment for:
- Medicaid eligible children from age 1 - 20
**
- Children enrolled in the Headstart Program and/or Children's Medical
Services
- A limited amount of grant funding is available to help uninsured children
- A limited amount of grant funding is available to help participants in the WIC or Healthy Start programs
WCHD Dental Clinic participates with DentaQuest and accepts Straight Medicaid. We do not participate with MCNA.
** In November 2012 a letter was sent from Medicaid offering parents the option to enroll their children in one of two prepaid dental programs (DentaQuest and MCNA) or to remain on Straight Medicaid. This applies to dental services ONLY - your child's medical coverage is not affected. Medicaid automatically assigned childen to DentaQuest or MCNA if parents did not respond. On December 1, 2012 the Medicaid Prepaid Dental Program became active in Wakulla County.
If your child is assigned to one of the prepaid dental plans you must use a dentist accepting that plan. If you have Straight Medicaid you can take your child to any dentist who accepts Medicaid. You can change your child's plan assignment by contacting Medicaid at www.medicaidoptions.net. or by calling 1-888-367-6554 M-F, 8am-7pm. Requests made before the next to last Saturday of any month become effective in the following month.
