Our Goals: |
• Prevention - reduce the number of youth who begin using tobacco by empowering youth and adults in anti-tobacco advocacy and policy making through education and training |
• Environment - eliminate second hand smoke exposure in the community |
• Cessation - decrease the number of youth and adults who are using tobacco |
Program Actions:
• Increase awareness of key tobacco issues
• Engagement in the Policy Process regarding tobacco issues
• Promote tobacco cessation
• Create, maintain and improve effective tobacco control organizations |
Wakulla Tobacco Free Partnership
The mission of the Wakulla County Tobacco Free Partnership is to reduce the prevalence of tobacco use and educate on the dangers of tobacco use in Wakulla County, Florida.
Partnership members include the Wakulla County Coalition for Youth, the Wakulla County School District, the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office, other area non-profit organizations, community leadership groups, and youth from the community. If you would like information on joining the Tobacco Free Partnership, please call Tonya Hobby at 850-926-0401 ext. 217. For 2014-2015, the Tobacco Free Partnership meets at the Wakulla County Public Library from 4-5pm on the following dates; September 18th, November 20th, January 15th, March 19th and May 21st. |

Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT)
SWAT is Florida's statewide youth organization working to mobilize, educate and equip Florida youth to revolt against and de-glamorize Big Tobacco. SWAT is a united movement of empowered youth working towards a tobacco free future. In Wakulla, the SWAT program participates in community events, regional trainings, and activities aimed to increase awareness of tobacco prevention throughout Wakulla. Our goal is to create student leaders that will change the social norms of tobacco in their community. Led by their school advisor, SWAT is active in Riversprings Middle School, Wakulla Middle School, COAST Charter School and Wakulla High School. |
Tobacco Cessation The Florida Department of Health in Wakulla County, in conjunction with Big Bend Area Health Education Centers (AHEC), offers three ways to quit smoking and all of them are free. These solutions are available to ALL residents of Wakulla County. |
